Machupicchu Circuits
Nowadays, having a beautiful experience in Machupicchu is the dream of many tourists who come to visit the city of Cusco.
The world-famous Inca citadel in Peru, has implemented a circuit system to help manage the flow of tourists and preserve the site. As of recent regulations, there are five main circuits you can follow when visiting Machu Picchu. Each one offers a different perspective and level of access to specific parts of the archaeological complex.
Here’s a breakdown of each circuit at Machu Picchu:

Circuit 1 – Panoramic
It is characterized by offering options of wide or panoramic views of the Inca City of Machu Picchu and its sacred mountains, as a space of connection with the Andean deities. It has four (4) routes, which take you to the highest part of Machu Picchu and lead you through narrow paths, enjoying an extraordinary landscape scenery, where you can enjoy the most impressive views of the Inca City and its surroundings, which goes beyond the classic photo. Each route demands a different physical effort, compensated by the captivating beauty of its architecture, the spatial organization of its buildings built on the mountain and the harmony they maintain with nature.
Circuit routes:
- Route 1-A: Machupicchu Mountain Route
- Route 1-B: Upper terrace route
- Route 1-C: Intipunku Cover Route (available only during high season)
- Route 1-D: Inka Bridge Route (available only during high season)
Circuit 2 – Classic Circuit
It combines a visit to the terraces in the middle of the Inca city with the entire urban area of Machu Picchu. You’ll visit buildings used as homes and ritual spaces for stargazing. It has two routes that require moderate physical exertion.
Circuit routes:
- Route 2-A: Classic route designed
- Route 2-B: Lower terrace route
Circuit 3 – Machu Picchu royalty
It consists of four routes and explores the most sacred and important spaces occupied by Inca royalty, such as the Temple of the Sun, the House of the Inca, the Temple of the Condor, and others. This circuit requires little physical effort. If you choose to hike the Huayna Picchu and Huchuy Picchu mountains, or head toward the Great Cave, greater physical effort and more time are required.

- Route 3-C: Great Cave Route (only available during high season)
- Route 3-D: Huchuypicchu Route (only available in high season)
